Recurrent intentional foreign body ingestion can be a difficult problem to navigate, and there are gaps in the literature that authors Clive J. Miranda, DO, MSc, and Steven J. Bollipo, MBBS, FRACP, hope their new review will help begin to fill.
The first part of this two-part review focuses on endoscopic techniques to remove foreign bodies, and the second part discusses the psychosocial aspects of RIFBI—for the patient and the healthcare team. In this video, Drs. Bollipo and Miranda discuss what led them to write the review—including recounting their history of how they were able to collaborate while located on opposite sides of the globe—and the key takeaways from the piece.
Check out both parts of this review, and other works, in our Review Articles section.
