For evaluation of mucosal healing in patients with ulcerative colitis, clinical assessment and endoscopy findings are closely associated, indicating that the costs of the invasive study can be avoided, researchers have found.
The data, which the investigators presented at the 2018 annual meeting of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO; abstract P336), challenge the frequency with which endoscopy is now employed to establish mucosal healing. Although the heterogeneity of the
