HCV-Infected Kidneys Function As Well As Uninfected Organs

Kidneys from donors who were infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) function as well as uninfected organs throughout the first year after transplantation, according to a study conducted at the University of Pennsylvania.

The study also noted a threefold increase in the number of transplant centers using HCV-infected kidneys (J Am Soc Nephrol 2019;30[10]:1939-1951).
