On June 12, for the first time in two years, 250 gastroenterologists of Indian descent convened (virtually, given the COVID-19 pandemic) for the 2021 annual meeting of the American Association of Gastroenterologists of Indian Origin (AAGIO). Once just an informal dinner party during the Digestive Disease Week, AAGIO has evolved into a substantial organization. But leaders are now grappling with how to expand and serve the growing membership on a nonprofit budget.
