A new study suggests that Wilson disease, a life-threatening but treatable metabolic condition, is nearly twice as prevalent as previously thought.
Using a meta-analysis of data from next-generation DNA sequencing studies, researchers from the University of Cambridge, in England, estimated the global prevalence of Wilson disease at approximately one in 18,000. The previous estimate had been approximately one in 30,000. The researchers noted that this estimate predated the discovery of ATP7B, the
