Polypectomy During Insertion: Time Wasted?

Additional time spent removing polyps during the insertion phase of colonoscopy may be time wasted, according to a pooled analysis of studies evaluating polypectomies performed during insertion and withdrawal, versus those performed only during withdrawal.

Performing a thorough inspection during the insertion as well as withdrawal phases of colonoscopy did not result in an increase in the adenoma detection rate (ADR) or number of polyps detected per patient (PDPP), compared with inspection
