On March 18, after the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread in the United States, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that all elective surgeries and nonessential medical, surgical and dental procedures should be postponed to preserve personal protective equipment (PPE), free up health care workers to care for patients who are most in need, and keep patients at home except in the event of an emergency to minimize their potential exposure to the virus.
That put the
