Toronto—In contrast to earlier studies, a team of Canadian researchers has found that the use of topical peppermint oil does not appear to increase the adenoma detection rate in intermediate-risk patients undergoing colonoscopy. The investigators said they were encouraged, however, by the fact that L-menthol was associated with a significantly lower rate of peristalsis.
“I think we can all agree that increasing adenoma detection rates should always be our goal,” said Amit
