Propofol can provide safe and effective sedation for children undergoing GI procedures even when it is administered by clinicians who are not anesthesiologists, researchers have found.
The study showed that propofol used in this way was associated with a low rate of adverse events, comparable to that seen in adult and other pediatric studies.
“To our knowledge, this is the largest study in children that looks at NAAP [non–anesthesiologist-administered propofol] versus general
