USPSTF to Recommend HBV Screening for Pregnant Women

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) issued a draft recommendation statement and draft evidence review on screening for hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in pregnant women.

Based on the evidence, the task force recommended screening for HBV infection in pregnant women at their first prenatal visit to prevent infection in newborns. This is an A recommendation, the USPSTF said.
