A panel of biomarkers in blood can detect mucosal healing in patients with Crohn’s disease, according to a validation study for a tool that could be used serially to monitor response to therapy. The test, which is already commercially available, has been developed as a stand-in for colonoscopy.
“The overall accuracy of the test is about 90%, and this is fairly consistent across locations, including disease in the ileum,” reported Geert D’Haens, MD, PhD, head of the IBD
