Brush cytology and biopsies may be unnecessary for the diagnosis of most cases of esophageal candidiasis, researchers have found.
A single-center study showed that clinicians accurately diagnosed 88% of candidiasis cases using endoscopic visualization alone, suggesting the possibility of substantial cost savings in these patients.
