For Chavonne Elisabeth, living with ulcerative colitis, ankylosing spondylitis, and all the personal and logistical challenges of having two chronic illnesses has come at a cost to her career.
“Between symptoms, gastroenterologist and rheumatologist appointments, and bloodwork, it is nearly impossible to hold a job down,” said Ms. Elisabeth, who lives in St. Louis.
When managing her symptoms and medical appointments proved not to fit into the square hole of conventional
