A significant portion of people with inflammatory bowel disease seek care at multiple institutions, and this so-called “fragmentation” may result in poorer outcomes, new research shows.
Among patients with IBD who needed inpatient care twice within a 90-day period from 2009 to 2013, about one in four were admitted to two different facilities, according to a new study published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology (2019;114[2]:276-290). Patients receiving fragmented care were
