Group-Based Nutrition Education May Improve IBS Outcomes

For patients with irritable bowel syndrome, group-based diet education led by a dietitian could allow clinicians to better monitor symptoms and response to the low-FODMAP diet, a pilot study has found.

Researchers at The Ohio State University, in Columbus, recruited eight patients with moderate to severe IBS into the study; five completed it. The patients attended a nutrition education class on the low-FODMAP (fermentable oligo-, di- and monosaccharides and polyols) diet. Patients were
