Defining the Role of Endoscopic Resection for Esophageal Cancer

SAN DIEGO—Current recommendations for esophagus cancer state that stage T1a lesions can be removed endoscopically but suggest esophagectomy with lymph node dissection for T1b disease. A new study has found that endoscopic resection was equally effective for T1b lesions and safer than surgical resection.
