A breath test can accurately diagnose 80% of gastric and esophageal cancer cases, researchers in the United Kingdom have found.
If the findings are validated, particularly in patients with early-stage disease, the test could prove particularly useful for screening at-risk individuals, including first-degree relatives of those with esophageal or gastric cancer, those who smoke and consume alcohol, or patients with severe gastroesophageal reflux disease.
