Colonoscopy Quality Improves With Knowledge of Positive DNA Stool Test

San Diego—When patients test positive on the multitarget stool DNA test Cologuard (Exact Sciences)—and their endoscopists know it—their subsequent colonoscopy is likely to yield more findings of clinical significance, new research shows.

Knowledge of a positive result on the DNA test led to higher-quality colonoscopies that generated more detected lesions, total adenomas and inconspicuous or flat lesions, as well as longer withdrawal times, researchers reported at the 2016
