Offering improved gastrointestinal bleeding and anatomic structure visualization, Olympus’ new endoscopy system EVIS X1 is set to be available for purchase in November or December 2023, along with two compatible endoscopes: the GIF-1100, a videoscope for use in the upper digestive tract, and the CF-HQ1100DL/I, a colonovideoscope for use in the lower digestive tract.

The EVIS X1 includes several new technologies that are aimed to help discover abnormalities, according to a company press release. In one view, called “Red Dichromatic Imaging,” providers will be able to clearly see deep blood vessels and bleeding. Other settings include “Texture and Color Enhancement Imaging,” which the company touts as improved discernment of colors, textures and outlines, and “Brightness Adjustment Imaging with Maintenance of Contrast,” which affects brightness levels.

In addition, the system continues to have “Narrow Band Imaging” technology previously introduced in other Olympus systems, which helps to highlight mucosal surface capillaries and submucosal veins.

The EVIS X1, GIF-1100 and CF-HQ1100DL/I all received FDA clearance in May 2023.
